Brea, California 5/24/06 – ALTINEX, Inc. announces the completion of the new AV system upgrade at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston , TX . This major renovation is based on ALTINEX MultiTasker ™ AV-over-Twisted-Pair (CAT5 type) Matrix Switchers, and a full array of transmitters, receivers, and distribution amplifiers, among other products. The ALTINEX project at NASA was the first and largest Twisted Pair installation of its kind in the AV industry.

CCS Presentation Systems in Houston partnered with ALTINEX during this 18-month transformation which includes two ALTINEX MultiTasker AV systems. Each is constructed with three, 4RU-high enclosures and operated via an AMX controller to transmit sound and video from five different labs to one main conference room across CAT5 cable. The Apollo-era meeting room was converted into a 21 st century multimedia facility for large-scale presentations, videoconferencing, and collaborative development engineering for NASA’s Concept Exploration Laboratory.

Fran Sodolak, Corporate Account Manager at CCS, who worked closely with ALTINEX to help NASA select the equipment, noted that careful research was done before selecting the MultiTasker, a card-based, freely configurable AV system. Sodolak states, “NASA wanted to make sure it was using the best products available, and expandability was a key consideration for them.”
