The MAX Series™ is a line of matrix switchers designed to allow the routing of computer video, broadcast video, and/or audio signals in audio/visual presentation systems. With a variety of configurations, in sizes up to 8x4, the MAX Series provides a solution for virtually any small to medium-size system and is particularly well-suited for high tech boardroom/conference room installations.

MAX Series switchers are available in matrix sizes of 4x2, 4x4, 8x2, and 8x4. Depending on the requirements of your system, the matrix switcher can be ordered to handle the following signal formats: Composite Video, S-video, Component Video (Y, R-Y, B-Y), or RGBHV. MAX Series matrix switchers designed to pass Broadcast Video signals offer a video bandwidth specification of 100 MHz. Matrix switchers designed to pass Computer Video signals offer a video bandwidth specification of 400 MHz.

Each video channel can be used to pass either video or sync. For this reason, a matrix switcher designated as handling RGBHV type signals can also pass RGBS and RGsB format signals, as well as Composite Video, S-video, and Component Video. Note that the output must match the input in terms of connectivity; an RGBHV matrix switcher provides only 5 BNC connectors for each input and output.

All of the available models offer similar features. These include a built-in front panel control, memory pre-sets, two (2) RS-232 control ports, projector control capabilities, independent video and audio switching, and Sync Delay switching.

The built-in front panel control provides a quick and easy manner of connecting inputs to outputs. It is also interactive, allowing the user to determine which connections have been made. The Input buttons serve a secondary function, allowing the user to save pre-set configurations and recall them at the touch of a button.

The two RS-232 ports allow the switcher to be controlled from two different locations or to control other devices, such as projectors, by custom programming the matrix switcher to send specific commands. Through the front panel control or via RS-232, the switcher can be instructed to switch video and audio separately or together. An optional Infrared (IR) control is also available for the MAX Series matrix switchers.

MAX Series switchers offer the capability to execute Sync Delay Switching (SDS). Sync Delay Switching is used when switching between computer video sources of different scan rates to eliminate the glitch that normally takes place. This is accomplished by disconnecting the video portion of the signal before the sync and connecting the incoming sync before the video. Different delay times may be set using the front panel control.

Broadcast Video models come with Vertical Interval Switching (VIS) built-in. VIS provides "glitch-free" transitions when switching between broadcast video type signals of the same format.

MAX Series switchers also offer special troubleshooting features. The RS-232 ports, for instance, use two LED's to indicate whether the connection has been properly made: two green lights and the connection is correct, otherwise something is wrong. The front panel offers a special "Status" button, which provides helpful feedback to the installer, such as information on the Baud rate and Unit ID settings.

A set of rack mount ears is included with each MAX Series matrix switcher.
